Alberto De Giuli is a great friend and an impressively skilled and motivated mountain guide. Based in the heart of the Dolomites in the village of Arabba, Alberto is available year round for climbing, ski touring or via ferrate.

Thanks to my guide Alberto De Giuli, fantastic weather and perfect powder, I had an amazing five-day backcountry skiing bonanza this past February. The Dolomites are stunningly beautiful, the skiing possibilities endless (few trees, fewer people!), the hospitality wonderful. It was a stroke of great luck to find this website and, through it, Alberto. He is an excellent guide – his professionalism, mountain skills, dependability and enthusiasm meant that all I had to do was enjoy myself. And the rifugio experience is not to be missed – great food, hot showers, comfy beds. We had the added pleasure of meeting up and skiing with Dan of dolomitesport.com, who was on a photo shoot. - Alberto was key to my family’s thoroughly enjoyable climb of the Sandro Pertini Via Ferrata in Val Gardena.
- We found Alberto through Dan Patitucci / DolomiteSport.com and communicated w/Alberto through email. Us in Boulder, Colorado—Alberto in the Dolomites. His english is good (WAY better than my Italian) and he was always very responsive, accurate, and complete in his messages, A real plus when planning something we’d never done before.
- Alberto learned our skills and interest, then he suggested this route. He made it easy for us to understand what was involved and how to meet him.
- When we met, I liked him immediately, and he made my wife and 14 and 17 year-old sons feel comfortable and excited about our outing. He provided the helmets/harnesses and seemed very competent and trustworthy. This Via Ferrata doesn’t require much technical skill, so I have no comment on Alberto’s ability w/hard corp stuff, but I have no reason to doubt that he can handle anything in the mountains and I would feel comfortable with his leadership on any sort of Dolomite hiking/skiing/climbing trip. I learned a bit about the training for Mountain Guide certification and it is impressive and sounds rigorous.
- What we liked most is his obvious enthusiasm for being in the mountains, and his easy-to-be-with, non-macho personality. I’ve used mountain guides in France and Switzerland, and none were easier to talk with or more genuinely friendly. He really made the trip more enjoyable, as well as safer.

My wife and I did Via Ferratta with Alberto in July and had an amazing time. Alberto is a top notch guide and makes it feel like you are climbing with a friend for the day not a guide. Super professional and Knowledgeable. Also introduce me to Spaghetti Carbonara which I will be forever grateful for.
